Behcet¢¥s Syndrome Associated with Cecal Perforation and Recurrent Enterocutaneous Fistula

Abstract
Behcet¢¥s syndrome characterized by a triad of recurrent oral and genital ulcers and inflammatory ocular lesion was first described by Turkish dermatologist Hulusi Behcet in 1937. This syndrome has been recognized as a multiple systemic organ disease and involves oral, genital, ocular, skin, cardiovascular, muscle, intestinal and nervous system. Recently, the incidence of intestinal Behcet¢¥s disease has been relatively increased in our country as well as general Behcet¢¥s disease.
The gastrointestinal manifestation such as hemorrhage &/or perforation are particular important to the surgeon. Also, the high incidence of the postoperative complications are formidable task in the surgeon.
Recently we experienced a case of intestinal Behcet¢¥s disease associated with cecal perforation and subsequent postoperative recurrent enterocutaneous fistula. A brief review of thepertinent literatures were made.
